Important Notice

Chart Library is an educational tool that displays historical market data. It is not a trading system, signal service, or investment advisor. All data shown is backward-looking. Nothing on this site constitutes a recommendation to buy, sell, or hold any security.

Historical Pattern Matching

Our pattern matching system finds historical chart patterns that are visually similar to your query. Similarity is computed using mathematical distance metrics on normalized price data. A high similarity score means the historical price shape closely resembles your query — it does not mean the future price action will be similar. Markets are influenced by countless factors that cannot be captured by price patterns alone.

Forward Returns

The 1, 3, 5, and 10-day forward returns displayed are computed from historical data — they show what actually happened after each similar pattern in the past. These are not predictions of what will happen in the future. Past performance is not indicative of future results. The sample sizes are small (typically 10 matches), which limits statistical reliability.

Trade Simulator

The trade simulator applies hypothetical stop loss, profit target, and hold period rules to historical forward return paths. Simulated results have inherent limitations:

  • No slippage or execution costs are modeled
  • No trading fees or commissions are included
  • No liquidity constraints or market impact are considered
  • Historical paths may not reflect future market conditions
  • Results are based on a small number of historical samples

Do not use simulator results as the basis for live trading decisions.

Statistical Measures

Statistical measures such as p-values, t-statistics, standard deviation, and skewness are computed from historical data and describe past patterns only. Statistical significance does not imply predictive power. These figures are provided for informational context, not as evidence that any pattern will repeat.

AI-Generated Summaries

Pattern summaries are generated by artificial intelligence (Claude by Anthropic). These summaries are automated interpretations of historical statistics and may contain errors, oversimplifications, or misinterpretations. They are not written by a financial analyst and should not be treated as professional financial analysis or advice.

General Trading Risks

Trading in securities, especially small-cap and micro-cap stocks, involves substantial risk including the potential loss of your entire investment. You should only trade with money you can afford to lose. Consider consulting a licensed financial advisor before making trading decisions. Chart Library does not know your financial situation, risk tolerance, or investment objectives.
