From the most talked-about stocks since yesterday's close: the ones with real company news and a real move, the biggest move for the stock first. What happened, the levels, and what the last times like this did. How much, not which way.
Two of this morning's names, Crown Castle and AT&T, are moving on the same SpaceX cell-site report, while Ringcentral is a stand-alone earnings beat with raised guidance. Notice how far each gap is from a normal day for that stock, and how often past gaps of similar size and type filled.
Temperature: mixed. SPY is below its 50-day average; SPY is gapping down before the open; new highs are outnumbering new lows.

QQQ −0.3% premarket, above its 200-day, below its 20- and 50-day
IWM −0.7% premarket, below its 20-, 50- and 200-day averages
Breadth: about half of liquid US stocks are above their 50-day average and about half above their 200-day. Yesterday about 6 in 10 closed up, and new 20-day highs outnumbered new lows about 2 to 1.

How to read it. A normal day is the stock's average daily range over 20 days. A round trip (a "fill") means the stock traded all the way back to yesterday's close the same day, erasing the gap. Gaps like this are past days with the same size of gap for that stock, the same kind of news and the same market direction. A record of past days, not a forecast or a call.
The 10:00 check (from 3,996 past gap days): at 10:00, half an hour after the 9:30 open, look at where the stock is against its opening price. When it was clearly above its opening price, it closed above it about 3 times in 4; clearly below, it closed below about 3 times in 4; about 9 times in 10 when it was well away from it. Sitting near its opening price at 10:00, it was a coin flip.

· Fri 07:32 — Reports of SpaceX Discussions Regarding Crown Castle Cell Sites
· Thu 18:01 — TD Cowen Adjusts Price Target on Crown Castle to $98 From $92
The SpaceX report is the new, company-specific item. Bloomberg named Crown Castle as one of the operators in talks, and the CEO did not deny it on the Q3 call, saying "you can assume that we're talking to all parties." No terms, counterparty agreement or timing have been disclosed, so it remains talks, though one article says the deals could be worth billions. Q3 was mixed: EPS beat, revenue missed, and the full-year 2026 adjusted EBITDA outlook midpoint rose $25M to $2.715B. TD Cowen's raise to $98 from $92 is an analyst note after the call. Verizon, AT&T and T-Mobile, which supply more than 90% of Crown Castle's revenue, each fell after hours on the report, so the news pulls in different directions for the tenants and the landlord.

Crown Castle owns or manages nearly 40,000 US wireless towers and leases space to carriers, with more than 90% of revenue from Verizon, T-Mobile and AT&T. It sold its fiber business in May 2026 and operates as a REIT. Q3 revenue and EBITDA beat, 2026 adjusted EPS guidance raised to $2.40 from $2.25-$2.35, but shares are lower on a report that SpaceX is negotiating for about 80,000 US cell sites to build a wireless network.

· Fri 06:31 — AT&T Shares Decline Amid Reports of SpaceX's Potential Entry into Wireless Market
· Thu 20:01 — Wall Street Analysts Update Price Targets for AT&T
The new driver this morning is the SpaceX report, which hits all three incumbent carriers; it had circulated for weeks, but active talks with tower operators such as Crown Castle sharpened the competition worry. The earnings were solid: postpaid phone ARPU grew 4% vs 1.6% consensus and the convergence rate rose to 42.8% from 42.5%. Postpaid phone net adds of 379,000 missed consensus of 381,000 and churn of 0.92% was slightly worse than the 0.91% expected. TD Cowen noted management flagged incremental free cash flow pressure in 2027 and beyond, higher customer acquisition costs and continued Fiber ARPU pressure, so the guidance raise comes with softer commentary on later years. Analysts trimmed price targets after the print but kept buy ratings.
In 2,241 past news gaps down of this size on a morning the market also gapped down, 8 in 10 closes landed between $20.88 and $22.47 at today's price; yesterday's close, the fill, is $22.74.

AT&T is the third-largest US wireless carrier, with about 70% of revenue from wireless service to postpaid and prepaid phone customers. Bigger gaps fill less often
Today's own pools, which also match the news type and the market's direction: RNG 23 of 227, CCI 18 of 169, T 292 of 2,241 filled. A narrower pool can land above or below its size bar; the stock's own pool is the closer comparison.
Every gap of a normal day or more since February 2024, up or down, any news, any market, grouped by how big the gap was for that stock (in normal days). The bar is the share that traded back to the prior close the same day: 22% of the smallest group, 1% of gaps of five normal days or more. Each stock's own pool above is narrower (its direction, news type and market), so its fill rate can differ from its bar here.
Crown Castle sits in the 3–5 normal days bucket, AT&T in 2–3 normal days and Ringcentral in 3–5 normal days, so read each name against the fill rates for its own bucket. For Crown Castle, 11% of 169 similar past gaps filled, and for Ringcentral it was 10% of 227.
When peers move with a stock, the news is about the industry and the move tends to be shared. When the stock moves alone, the news is about the company. Check peers before you decide what you're trading.
Crown Castle and AT&T both moved on the same SpaceX report, so ask whether it is the stock or the group before reading either chart on its own.
